Op Art

Fifth grade students looked at the history of optical illusion art (op art) and some prominent op artists including Victor Vasarely, M.C. Escher and Bridget Riley. Students created a black and white optical illusion artwork using sharpie, charcoal pencil and white prismacolor. This exercise illustrates the impact of shading and highlights and how manipulated patterns can create the illusion of movement and depth.
