Radial Printmaking

This lesson focuses on teaching students about radial symmetry—balance that radiates from a central point—through the repetitive process of stamping a design. Students first create a colorful background using paint sticks. Students then create a line design that is “carved” into a styrofoam block. The block becomes a stamp that is repeated to create the symmetrical design.
